This project utilizes diversion piers and sand guide sills to solve the problems of poor navigation flow conditions and sedimentation in the ship lock approach gate area, and the technology has reached the international leading level.

The project won the silver medal of National Quality Project Award; the first prize of 2002 National Outstanding Engineering Consulting Achievement; the first prize of Hunan Province Outstanding Engineering Consulting Achievements; and the first prize of Hunan Province Outstanding Design Award.
