The main span of the Aizhai Bridge reaches 1,176 meters, and the vertical height of the bridge deck is 355 meters. It was completed and opened to traffic in 2012. It has set "four firsts in the world" and was praised by General Secretary Xi Jinping as "China's Full Moon". The "rail cable sliding method" pioneered by this project is recognized around the world as the “fourth bridge-building method.”

The project won the IRF International Road GRAA Achievement Award, the second prize of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, the Li Chun Award, the China Patent Excellence Award, the China Highway Society Science and Technology Special Prize, the first prize of the Hunan Province Technology Invention Award, and the first prize of the Hunan Province Excellent Engineering Design Award, first prize of Hunan Province Science and Technology Progress Award.
