Recently, Tanzania‘s 33.61 km Road Upgrading Project received high-profile coverage from the country’s mainstream media outlet Bongo5 (The leading entertainment website in Tanzania). Reporters visited the construction site for filming and interviews, delivering positive reporting on the project‘s schedule planning, construction techniques, and social responsibility practices.
The report highlighted that the Tanzanian government places great importance on local infrastructure development and economic growth. Under the close attention and active promotion of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the asphalt paving works for the 33.61 km road upgrading project are advancing at full speed. The project includes bridge construction, more than 10 box culverts, over 50 drainage channels, and road slope reinforcement. To permanently eliminate the problem of muddy, impassable roads during the rainy season, the project team has also added a street lighting system in village sections to improve flood resilience and night-time travel safety. Currently, the team is employing simultaneous construction on multiple segments to maintain progress and ensure high-quality delivery.
The 33.61 km road mainly connects Iringa and Kilolo, serving as one of the core infrastructure upgrades in the transportation network of south-central Tanzania. It is scheduled to be fully open to traffic in January 2026 and is expected to significantly improve logistics efficiency, boost trade, tourism, and employment along the route, and play an important role in advancing socioeconomic development.
