On September 18, 2017, Super Hurricane Maria made landfall in Dominica, a Caribbean island country, causing devastating disasters. Projects undertaken by our foreign-aided companies in Dominica, including our Margaret Hospital project in Dominica, have been damaged to varying degrees, and the lives and safety of on-site personnel in the aid projects are facing difficulties and threats. The Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China made emergency arrangements for this, immediately looked for channels from various parties, and actively organized the emergency transfer of on-site personnel working on the aided project back to China.
SHICO attached great importance to the emergency arrangements and actively implemented it, quickly activated the overseas emergency response mechanism, and took various effective measures to guide SHICO’s front-line personnel in the Margaret Hospital project in Dominica. SHICO cooperated with the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, and relevant sister companies to successfully complete the emergency transfer of personnel back to China after the disaster. It was unanimously praised by all parties involved and fully demonstrated the SHICO’s combat effectiveness in dealing with sudden emergencies overseas.
