In 2017, SHICO donated sanitation facilities to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a world-famous Buddhist temple located in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is a famous tourist attraction where thousands of domestic and foreign Buddhist believers and tourists go to pray and visit every day. However, the poor and backward public health facilities here have always been a major problem for the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, causing great inconvenience to believers and tourists. After understanding the relevant situation, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and its Economic and Economic Counselor’s Office negotiated with the relevant management agencies of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic to donate and build a new public health facility, and also renovated an original health facility, which greatly improved the public health situation of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. SHICO is responsible for the design and construction general contracting of this project. To promote the development of local enterprises, during the construction period, SHICO also introduced many local enterprises to participate in the construction of individual projects including roofing, sanitary ware, ceramic tiles, and electrical supporting facilities. A total of more than 200 local technicians and workers have also participated in the project construction, which has promoted the employment of local people to a certain extent.
