It has a total length of 53.44 kilometers. This is an upgrading and widening project of the old asphalt pavement, and the road structure mainly consists of adding 20 centimeters of asphalt concrete pavement to the gravel base.

During the construction of the project, the project team successfully applied the construction methods of concrete pavement, the prefabrication of concrete pipe culverts, large-scale deep hole blasting, and the design and construction of new structures, which are Chinese technologies and process standards. This is the first time that it has been approved and promoted in Sri Lanka (British standard system).
