The project is one of the landmark projects of the cooperation between China and Dominica, and is an important livelihood project in Dominica. At present, it is the largest general hospital with the highest level of medical technology in this country with a total floor area of 26,300 square meters and 250 beds in total. It was evaluated by PAHO as meeting world-class construction standards and being the most advanced medical center in the Caribbean.

The project was praised by Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica, as a precious gift from China to Dominica. The Dominica government renamed it "Sino-Dominican Friendship Hospital" and it received the Meritorious Award of Honor.
